    I just finished reading most parts of this book. It looks like it is geared to re-using existing skills in HTML, JavaScript and AJAX and applying them to creating AIR applications rather than using the built-in Flex components.

    The mini cookbook section contained snippets on how to communicate with the embedded database and manipulate files. I find that chapter very useful and informative.
